A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14th for Roger A. Hein, 55, of Waterloo.
Roger died on Tuesday, May 27th near Stockton, Illinois in a semi tractor-trailer accident.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 208 N 4th St. in Fairbank, Iowa with Rev. George Volkert officiating. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner is assisting Roger’s family. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Roger Arlin Hein, son of Otto and Ettalena (Pleis) Hein was born August 24, 1958 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairbank, Iowa.
He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1976. After mechanic school, he spent his early adulthood out of the state of Iowa. After coming back to Iowa, he worked at Traer Manufacturing until it closed. Through the years Roger drove semi’s and decided to re-certify at Hawkeye Community College, to drive a semi again. At the time of his death, he was employed at FirstCo Inc.-Waterloo office.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol Volker-Mutschler and Delmar Mutschler of Sumner; nephews and families, Bill and Shellie Volker and girls, Nick Volker, all of Sumner; Jason Volker and daughter of Maynard, Drs. Brent and Mary Volker of Baltimore, Maryland; niece and family, Beth (Volker) and David Becker and sons of Atkins; uncle and aunts, John and Clara Pleis of Fayette and Norma Pleis of Arizona; and many Pleis and Hein cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto in 1985, and Ettalena in 1996; brother-in-law, Delbert Volker in 2005; and great niece, Brogan Marie Volker in 2005.
